Rabu, 13 Oktober 2016, EMGI UP45 mengadakan acara bedah buku dengan judul Party’s Over: Oil, War, and The Fate of Industrial Societies. Kegiatan ini merupakan kegiatan rutin yang dilaksanakan setiap 2 kali dalam sebulan. Buku ini dibedah oleh Bapak Andri Azis Putra, Lc., M.Phil. Beliau adalah seorang dosen di Teknik Perminyakan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Proklamasi 45 Yogyakarta. Buku ini adalah karangan Richard Heinberg, seorang pendidik dan pernah mendapatkan penghargaan di bidang energi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Buku ini menjelaskan bahwa masyarakat industri modern sangat tergantung pada bahan bakar fosil, penipisan bahan bakar fosil tidak bisa dihindari, dan mereka sangat rentan terhadap pengurangan energi yang tersedia. Hal ini mengakibatkan puncak dari konsumsi minyak yang berlebihan sudah sangat dekat, dan AS memainkan peran utama dalam kebijakan luar negeri, terorisme, perang, dan geopolitik”, kata Andri. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang boros dalam konsumsi minyak”, ungkapnya.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Beliau menyebutkan bahan bakar fosil sangat penting dalam sejarah peradaban industri dan kapitalisme. Banyak ahli geologi dan penelitian energi percaya bahwa produksi minyak secara global berada di ambang puncak. Sumber energi alternatif kemudian dibahas untuk melihat apakah mereka dapat menyediakan kekurangan energi dari bahan bakar fosil.
